Self rostering: Clinician Rostering
December 2025
Rota management normally requires Rota Masters to act as the central point for every roster change, from swaps to covering gaps and managing absences due to leave. This can create bottlenecks, increase administrative workload, and limit clinicians’ ability to shape their working patterns, particularly in fast-moving services. Clinician Rostering was created to address this challenge by enabling clinicians to safely self-roster within clearly defined boundaries, giving them greater transparency and control while preserving service requirements, compliance rules, and the overall integrity of the rota.
We are pleased to announce the release of Clinician Rostering, a new addition to our growing offering of features that facilitate self-rostering. You can now opt to allow clinicians the ability to make direct changes to the live roster within Medirota’s ‘Group Summary View’, all while preserving key elements of the roster that mandate staff requirements and govern compliance.
Clinician Rostering gives departments the flexibility to select which parts of the roster and whose roster each clinician can edit, ensuring self-rostering maximises transparency, autonomy and work-life balance while also respecting process guardrails and preserving the integrity of the rota in line with the NHS 10 Point Plan to improve resident doctors’ working lives.
